Almost the entirety of the current FC Barcelona squad is performing at a level beyond initial expectations. The Catalan giants have been efficient and impactful, and Hansi Flick has turned his players into a well-drilled unit. Through this hard work and tactical emphasis, Barcelona have become a team to be reckoned with this season.
However, certain players manage to standout as the key contributors to this success. One of them just so happens to be Raphinha, who is arguably the most improved player within this Barcelona team compared to his previous seasons for the club.
His performances have been so impactful, in fact, that even other players can not help but notice and commend the work that he has been doing. One such former player, who also happens to be an icon for Brazilian football and has represented Barcelona before as well, is none other than Romario.
As highlighted by SPORT, Romario recently spoke about Barcelona in length and focused on Raphinha, claiming that he is ‘one of the best’ players in world football right now and that his performances have been exceptional for both Barça and his country:
“For me, Raphinha is one of the best players in the world right now. He’s performing exceptionally well with both Barça and Brazil,”
So far this season, the Barcelona forward already has 15 goals and 10 assists in 20 appearances to his name across all competitions. His performances, which are essential for Hansi Flick’s Barça beyond just goal contributions, have been a key factor in helping out both his club and his country. For Romario, he represents a source of pride as well:
“Raphinha is a source of pride for all of us, and I’m convinced he’ll achieve truly special things.”
Romario also made sure to praise the collective efforts and performances of Barcelona as well, claiming that he thinks that they will be champions by the end of the season:
“I don’t watch much football on TV, but when it’s Barça, it’s impossible not to pay attention. This season, they’ve played well and won important games… I believe they’ll be champions this year.”
As for Raphinha, the goal will now be to keep himself grounded and continue delivering to the best of his abilities. Already having been given the iconic number ‘10’ jersey of the Brazilian National team, that gesture just goes on to show how much faith and trust is being put in him.
