Not everyone sees eye to eye with the Barcelona management and how they run things. The case of Vitor Roque is already an infamous one, and has enabled a lot of criticism to be directed towards the club. However, there are matters beyond just Roque that must be addressed at Barcelona.

One such matter is that of Polish icon and Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski. The former Bayern Munich ace, now at Barça, has not had his most productive of seasons. Despite being the team’s top scorer, he plays and scores at a level that is still far from his best and almost everyone sees this.

As highlighted by SPORT, former Barcelona player and Ballon D’or winner Rivaldo is on the same train as well. For the Brazilian icon, the Polish striker is no longer at the level he used to be and his sale in the summer is something that would not surprise him:

“Lewandowski is a great striker, but he is already old. That is an important factor.”

To add more clarity over this, the former FIFA World Cup winner has also referred to how things used to be before and how age could lead to players being sent away from Barcelona:

“In my time, when you were already 30 years old, the club began to consider the possibility of selling you, of putting you on the market.”

This remains applicable to Rivaldo himself, who parted ways with FC Barcelona when he turned 30 himself. However, he still has some doubt over whether or not Lewandowski is eventually sold or not, especially given that the club needs immediate silverware to show to those who support Barcelona:

“Nowadays, older players are being signed, 36 or 37 years old. However, although Lewandowski has only been at the club for two seasons, Barça needs titles and the fans want to see a team stronger than those two seasons.”

For now, there is a lot of speculation about Lewandowski’s future at Barcelona. Interest from clubs both in Europe and abroad is there, but it will ultimately depend on both Barça and the Pole himself. As per recent reports, the striker still seems to have no intentions of leaving next season.
