Finally, great news comes at last for FC Barcelona before the end of 2023. Thus far, most of the updates that the Catalan giants have received have been rather negative, such as the update on Pedri’s injury. However, it now seems that 2023 can end with a bang for Barcelona.
After several weeks, and perhaps even months of waiting, Barcelona can finally open their arms to one of their most eagerly awaited signings. Having landed just today, a certain Brazilian has come directly from São Paulo airport all the way to sunny Catalonia.
Vitor Roque, a prodigious Brazilian striker, has finally landed in Barcelona. The 18-year-old has only just arrived but the future of his signing already has an image. According to SPORT, however, the expectations on his shoulders are going to be very extreme.
Roque arrives in a Barcelona that is quite different from the one that invested in him as a future asset back in the summer. At that time, it was hoped that the striker could arrive, have his adaptation period to acclimatize to European football, and also get to train under Robert Lewandowski, one of the best strikers of his generation.
However, this current Barcelona that he arrives into is very different and damaged. No longer a happy, united group, the Catalan giants have shown sustained inconsistency this season. The dressing room is reportedly no jolly place, and Xavi’s displaying an anger he has never shown before.
Barcelona needs to find more goals to play better in the decisive stages of the season. However, those aspirations could be daunting on the young Brazilian striker who now has to deal with unwavering expectations. Barça will demand goals, and he becomes the natural target to force them out from.
Lewandowski continues to underperform, and many people now look towards Roque as the solution. They believe that the youngster will compensate for the Pole’s misses, despite him still only being just 18 years old.
For now, the plan is to incorporate him into the team as soon as possible, and then he could possibly even debut on the 4th of January against UD Las Palmas, if the registration process goes as smoothly as is hoped for.
