Barcelona consider their upcoming transfer arrivals to be players that are arriving strictly as absolute necessities for the club rather than players that may be considered luxury signings. As a result, and given their economic difficulties, Barcelona aspires to manage their operations efficiently.
With recent reports emerging stating that Barcelona will try to reinforce their right-back position with a low-cost alternative rather than opt for a renowned player that would obviously then command a transfer fee that La Blaugrana is currently unable to pay, but maybe down to consider in the future.
However, one player that FC Barcelona maintain an eager eye on to reinforce the right-back slot in the future is AS Monaco’s Brazilian fullback, Vanderson.
According to a recent report on the player by SPORT, it is believed that Vanderson will be willing to wait for Barcelona until the summer of 2024 and for now has decided to stay with his current club Monaco for another year in order to afford the Catalans more time, as well as potentially allow them to allocate their funds accordingly to match his €30 million price tag next year.
Having had a strong first season with the French club in Ligue 1, he is now set to partake in a second season in France before making his switch to another side.
Deco maintains a good image of the player and even previously recommended his signing in 2021, before inevitably the player ended up going to Monaco due to Barcelona’s inability to act on the operation soon enough.
Considered untransferable by the Monaco sporting sector as of this year, both the player’s insistence to buy out more time as well as gain experience, and Monaco’s own view of wanting him to stay for longer will aid Barcelona in addressing their financial state by that time.
For now, Barcelona have an operation for the right-back position set elsewhere. Given that the financial costs for other targets may be too much for Barca to pursue, Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda is a real option for the Catalans. His decreased release clause of €20 million is a value that Barca hopes to bring down even further, and then possibly end up signing him this very summer.
