One of the major investments that FC Barcelona made in this summer transfer window was the signing of Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. The Catalan club has already officially signed the player, but it is not yet clear when the player will actually arrive in Barcelona.
As SPORT reports, for now, everything indicates that the young Brazilian will come to Barcelona only in the winter window of 2024, but the Barcelona hierarchy has still not ruled out the possibility of Roque joining the Blaugranes this summer.
However, before working towards the arrival of the Tigrinho, Barcelona are looking to complete two other operations on a higher priority. These two operations involve another Brazilian, Neymar, and the Portuguese full-back, Joao Cancelo, whose arrival will significantly strengthen Xavi’s team for the next season.
If the move for these two players materializes this summer, this will consume all the FFP margin available to the Catalan club this summer. Furthermore, the club also has to keep in the loop the alternatives for these two players, i.e., Joao Felix for Neymar and Ivan Fresneda for Cancelo.
Barcelona will also remain in contact with Athletico Paranaense to bring Vitor Roque to Barcelona this summer if possible. How the two previously mentioned operations proceed will determine this possibility.
Meanwhile, the transfers of Neymar and Joao Cancelo are also highly complicated. For Neymar to come to Barcelona, he will first have to be bought by the Saudi side, Al-Hilal, and then be loaned out to Blaugranes, which involves the nod of some of the most powerful political figures in Doha and Riyadh, who are not getting along well politically currently.
Manchester City are also looking to offload Cancelo before the transfer window closes, and while the Citizens wanted a full sale, Cancelo only wants to come to Barcelona, who can sign him only on loan. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is also working to ensure his move to the Catalan capital, but time and finances will ultimately determine whether he actually moves to Catalonia this summer.
