Brazilian winger wants to continue at Barcelona for a long time

FC Barcelona winger Raphinha

FC  Barcelona are in dire need of funds and have to make a number of sales in order to generate these funds and operate within the scope of La Liga’s FFP rules. It is not only the fringe players that the club is looking to sell, as some more important players can also be sold.

One of the players that the club considers important for the squad, but is still open to selling to generate the required funds is the Brazilian winger Raphinha. The winger came to Barcelona last summer from Leeds United, for a fee of €55 million and €10 million in add-ons.

While having only a mediocre first season at the club, the Blaugranes believe that the player still retains some of his previous value, and selling him can result in a good windfall for the club.

However, Mundo Deportivo reports that the player is not too keen on moving away from Barcelona. The player made this clear when the team was celebrating their La Liga title victory, and the player reiterated this wish recently in an interview with Club del Deportista.

Regarding his possible move away from Barcelona, the player commented that he intends to continue at Barcelona not only for the coming season but beyond this season too. He reminded that he has a contract in place with the club and intends to fulfill this contract.

The player went on to confess that his first six months at the club had not been easy, as he did not have a direct role in the team and scored only a few goals and gave few assists. But then he adapted better to the team, with the help of teammates, and has set the Champions League as his goal for next season.

He also praised Xavi in the interview, as he claimed that in Xavi the team has a coach who knows the club’s style of play and knows the club perfectly. The gaffer always believed and knew what he could achieve with this group of players.

Thus, while the club may be forced into a move, Raphinha himself has his heart set on continuing at Camp Nou. He had an okay first season at the club, and his performances might improve further as he starts the next season already well-gelled with his teammates.
