FC Barcelona showed amazing spirit last night to win the match against Celta Vigo after going down two goals when there were only fifteen minutes left on the clock. Barcelona did not need much time to overturn this deficit, however, as they scored three goals in ten minutes to eventually come out as the winners in this game.
The comeback was fuelled mainly by Lewandowski as he scored the first two goals, but a very important part in overturning the score was also played by the Portuguese fullback, Joao Cancelo. He gave the assists to Lewandowski’s second goal and scored the last goal himself to win the match.
Cancelo on his performance against Celta Vigo
As SPORT has reported, Cancelo was one of the players who spoke to the media after the match. The player was quite honest in his remarks and admitted that he was not playing at his best level earlier in the match:
“Personally, I was having a very poor match. Technically, I was making a lot of mistakes. We need to stay focused until the end. It’s important to win even when playing poorly, but we need to improve.”
He further added:
“I was mentally lost, and I made many technical errors, which is not normal in my game because I’ve made a lot of bad passes. But it’s better to play poorly and win than to play well and lose.”
Cancelo also recognized that he was currently in the Catalan club only on a loan, and will have to perform at his best to continue playing here, while also confessing that his desire was to continue at Barcelona:
“If I perform, the club will want to keep me. If I don’t perform, they’ll let me go. Playing for the club is a dream, and scoring this goal is very important, but I don’t leave with good feelings.”
Patience; the decisive factor
Lastly, Cancelo also commented on the match and identified the main reason why the team was successful in overturning the scoreline:
“Celta played very defensively, making the game difficult, but we remained patient. The most important thing was the three points, and now we have a total of 16.”
Cancelo has been in amazing form ever since joining Barcelona from Manchester City this summer. The player has been instrumental in the last three matches, and with his fighting spirit shown tonight, Barcelona have much more reason to be optimistic about their chances of winning silverware this season.
