FC Barcelona have successfully renewed several important players since the start of this new year, including the likes of Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi, thus bringing a significant degree of certainty to their squad for the coming years.
However, the Blaugrana Sporting Department’s work in this regard is still not complete, as Deco is looking to start negotiations for several more contract renewals.
One of the players who is expected to get a new contract in this next round of renewals is the French defender Jules Kounde, whose current contract goes till 2027, but whose new contract will reportedly keep him at the Catalan club till 2030.
This new contract will be offered to him mainly as a reward for his good performances this season, as he has been a fixed starter for Hansi Flick at the right-back position, even though he previously used to be at his best while playing in the center of the defensive line.
But according to a report from SPORT, it is not only Barcelona who are impressed with his performances this season, as Chelsea still want to get him after failing to land him from the Blaugrana club in the last season, and could offer around €100 million for him.
However, the Catalans will not entertain any proposals for the Frenchman, as he is a highly important player for Hansi Flick, and with their return to the 1:1 status at the start of this year, Barcelona also do not need to sell one of their best players to be able to sign new players next summer.
The Blaugranes have already shielded him with a release clause of €1 billion, and they want to complete his renewal before Raphinha’s, whose contract is also running out in 2027.
If Barcelona are successful in renewing him, they will have their right-wing position well covered for years to come, as Ronald Araujo has already been renewed and Hector Fort is also available to play in this position.
