One of the areas that FC Barcelona want to reinforce in this summer transfer window is the forward line. With only Robert Lewandowski as the reliable center forward in the squad, the club is looking to add another quality forward to play in the Pole’s stead when the need arises.
For this purpose, the club has two major alternatives outlined. One is the rising Brazilian prodigy, Vitor Roque, while the other is the veteran striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. While Roque is outlined as the long-term solution to the club’s attack, Aubameyang will be a good stop-gap arrangement for the upcoming season.
According to SPORT, Aubameyang’s return operation to FC Barcelona is on track but is plagued by some complications. They report that Chelsea need to sell Aubameyang before 30th June in order to comply with the financial fair play rules. The London-based side does not want to let the Gabonese leave for free and will be looking for a small fee.
Aubameyang is more than willing to rejoin FC Barcelona and had already offered himself to the Catalan club in the winter window. He could not be registered at that time by the club because of some regulations.
Meanwhile, the player has not been able to get the trust of Frank Lampard and has been ostracised from the club for a significant period now. Aubameyang has now let Chelsea know that he will let go of his compensation if the club gets him a letter of freedom.
Chelsea also have offers for the player from some other clubs, the most notable of these being Inter Milan. However, Aubameyang has his heart set on Barcelona and does not want to go to any other club.
Barcelona currently cannot match Aubameyang’s salary, and the player would have to take a pay cut to join the Catalan side. Barcelona also cannot offer any transfer fees for the player and would get him only if he can convince Chelsea to let him leave for free.
