Getting a replacement for Sergio Busquets is atop the priority list for FC Barcelona this summer. While the club has identified and contacted several players to make them their next midfield pivot, none of them has signed with the club yet.

Marcelo Brozovic is one such player that the club has set their sights on for this role. Playing with Inter Milan, the player played an important role in taking the Italian club to the final of the UEFA Champions League this season, after helping them win the Serie A title after several years in the preceding season.

However, the player seems on the verge of leaving Inter Milan this summer, and according to SPORT, was just about to sign for the Saudi side Al Nassr. The Saudi side had presented him with a great financial offer, which his agent was also pushing him to sign, and was also willing to present a favorable proposal to Inter Milan for the player.

It seemed that Brozovic was about to give his ascent to the Al-Nassr offer, but Barcelona have burst on the scene and the player now wants to join the Catalan giants. The report claims the Croat is ready to let go of the huge offer from Saudi Arabia and will continue in Europe with FC Barcelona.

Still, his negotiations with the Blaugranes are far from conclusion, as the player wants guarantees before he can commit to the club. Furthermore, the Catalan club’s higher-ups are also looking to lower the €25 million asking price from Inter Milan.

The Saudi side is still in contention for the player, and anything can happen, with Monday being cited as a possible day when the player will make his decision.

Inter Milan are actively looking to sell their player, and FC Barcelona are in need of a competent midfield pivot. Thus, if this move materializes, both the clubs and the player himself will benefit from it, and Xavi will get an experienced player who played the Champions League final this season, and will thus improve the team’s prospects in the premier European competition.
