In the last few days, media outlets related to FC Barcelona have been preoccupied with the stunning news of Ousmane Dembele’s potential move to PSG. This issue certainly demands this attention as Dembele’s transfer can have far-reaching impacts on the future of the club.
FC Barcelona’s main objectives coming into this summer transfer window were to avoid losing any of the player’s that are integral to Xavi’s plans for the next season and to offload the fringe players.
The pursuit of both these objectives is not going exactly as planned, as the club has not been able to sell most of its fringe players and now can also be losing out on one of their most influential players, Ousmane Dembele.
Still, the club cannot do too much to force Dembele to remain with the Catalan club, and Xavi and the club executives will have to ensure that no other important player leaves the club this summer.
However, according to a recent report from SPORT, there is another attacking player who can end up leaving the club, the Moroccan Ez Abde. The report mentions that Abde is clear that he will leave the club if Xavi is not going to count on him in the coming season.
Abde’s position can be justified, as Barcelona did not show any confidence in his abilities last summer when he was sent on loan to Osasuna. Now, upon his return, he still isn’t guaranteed a spot in the starting lineup, especially with the potential arrival of attacking reinforcements and the addition of Vitor Roque in the winter transfer window further complicating his situation.
The Moroccan has a number of clubs interested in him, with Real Betis being one of the most prominent ones. Ramon Planes, the former Barcelona technical director who found gems like Pedri and Araujo, is now at Betis and is asking his current club to try to sign Abde.
Abde was not too influential in the Dallas Classico, and it remains to be seen how well he will perform in the upcoming games. Ultimately, it depends on the winger himself whether he wants to remain at Barcelona or join a new club.
