It’s not often that you see a Real Madrid legend tip a Barcelona youngster for superstardom but that is exactly what has happened with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar has become somewhat of a YouTube sensation in recent weeks.
Ronaldo has been doing the talking on his channel and has now taken out some time to talk about Barcelona gem Lamine Yamal. The 17-year-old Spaniard has been the talk of the town for a few months now.
What Lamine has been doing in a Barcelona and Spain shirt in recent months, at his age is unparalleled. One can go as far as calling him one of the best in his position currently.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand asked the Al-Nassr superstar about the Barcelona wonderkid, and here is what he had to say: “I see huge potential and great talent in him. He needs a bit of luck because he’s still very young. I hope he doesn’t encounter any major setbacks.”
Cristiano Ronaldo went on to tip Yamal to become one of the best players of his generation. The 39-year-old continued: “I think he has immense potential, but let’s see what happens along his journey. I believe he’s going to become one of the best players of this new generation.”
Massive praise indeed from a player, who along with Lionel Messi, shared the biggest stage in football for more than a decade. The duo ruled the football world for a long time but it’s time now for the next generation.
At this point, it is fair to say that Lamine Yamal is the biggest talent of the current generation. His stats speak for itself and the only hurdle for the 17-year-old is to keep working on his game and not get carried away.
Barcelona are lucky to have La Masia produce a talent like Lamine Yamal in a time of financial difficulty. He has given the fans a reason to smile and his consistency offers huge hope for the future.
With three goals and four assists from five La Liga games so far this season, Lamine had started this season in some style. It is now on him to keep up this consistency, both in terms of stats and performances, in order to help return Barcelona to the heights of the past.
