FC Barcelona could not strengthen their squad as much as they wanted in the last summer transfer window. The Catalans had several areas of weakness that they wanted to be reinforced, but the transfer window ended with only two additions to the Blaugrana squad: Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Dani Olmo was inarguably the star signing of the window, and he alone has been able to generate a lot of excitement among Barcelona fans as he scored a goal on his La Liga debut and added another goal to his tally in the ensuing game against Real Valladolid.

The forward is currently with the Spanish national team for this international break. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, he spoke to the media from the Spanish team’s training camp and talked about different aspects related to Barcelona.

Olmo arrived at the Catalan club when it was going through a very difficult period economically, and the entity’s FFP problems also led to a delay in his registration with La Liga. However, Olmo clarified that he remained calm about the situation even when he was not registered:

“I already knew it would get resolved. I wanted to play as soon as possible, but I also knew that situation could happen. In the end, however, it was the dream debut at Vallecas. Barça showed me that they wanted me.”

The Spaniard went on to praise the new Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, and unveiled the factors behind his swift adaptation at Barcelona:

“He had a key role. The position where he sees me and where I’ve been playing at Leipzig and with Spain, the connection with players like Pedri or Lamine… Everything makes it much easier, and that’s why my adaptation has been so quick. He is very clear with what he asks of me, and I always try to give my best.”

Olmo was also gunning to show his talent at his new club as soon as possible:

“Those who haven’t seen me yet will now have the opportunity to do so. With Barça, we have clear objectives. Anyone who comes to this club must have a winning mentality.”

The forward also praised one of his Barcelona teammates, Raphinha, during this media talk:

“We connected from the very beginning. He’s a very complete player and a great person. In the locker room, he helps the younger players a lot, and he also helped me when I first arrived… And on the field, he’s a player I like because he works with the conviction that he will be of great help.”

Lastly, Olmo also opened up a bit on his playing style:

“I’m a playmaker and a goal-scorer. In these games, you’ve already seen that I like to link up with players like Pedri, Raphinha, Lewandowski, or Ferran.”

After his glittering start to life at Barcelona, Olmo will be looking to continue his momentum after the international break as well. He is already proving to be a very good addition to the squad, and hopefully can come out as a difference-maker as the Blaugranes look to end this season with some silverware.
