The rumor mill is quite active when it comes to FC Barcelona and their stars no matter the time. It is perhaps natural to see one of Europe’s biggest clubs be involved in all sorts of news that comes out. However, there is also some truth to the fact that Barcelona would not be completely against some sales.
Being put in an uncomfortable position when it comes to their finances, certain inconvenient decisions may have to be made. This would include the sales of such players that in any other circumstance Barça would not sell. However, desperate times often call for desperate measures.
One name, as a consequence, that began to be linked to a move away from the club was Andreas Christensen. The Danish defender, who arrived at FC Barcelona in the summer of the previous campaign, has been quite the diligent servant to the club. However, seeing him as the third or even fourth-choice central defender, Newcastle began to be linked to him.
Now, as Mundo Deportivo reports, that news is being slammed aside. In fact, reports from Denmark are pushing away any and all possible updates about a potential departure for Christensen. As per their information, the player and Barcelona are completely settled together and are happy with their current status.
Accordingly, they state that there is no chance of a departure for the Dane in the winter. Newcastle’s interest, they believe, has been forged from nothing but falsehood. It was simply a way to prompt a potential departure that is otherwise not even in the making.
Moreover, the same reports from Denmark are also pointing out that a summer exit is also unlikely. While it is true that Barcelona would like to make sales, Christensen is not as disposable as people think. Instead, the 27-year-old hopes to continue with Barcelona, a club that he has always dreamed of.
He has an active contract until 2026, and he hopes to complete that. Moreover, his current contract has a release clause of €500 million attached to his name as well. At the moment, MD and the Danish reports claim that his departure is ultimately unlike for this season or the next.
