Many of the best players for FC Barcelona are currently unavailable due to their respective injuries. Some of these injuries have come to be due to the extra work of the international break, while others have occurred while playing for the club. Ultimately, regardless of how they happened, the reality is that Barcelona suffers either way.
Even right now, ahead of the game against Girona, Hansi Flick has a sizeable injury list. Many key players remain sidelined and it has ultimately restricted the options that Hansi Flick has with his current team. Unfortunately, for a club as riddled with financial difficulties as Barcelona is, this is an unwanted situation.
Fortunately for both Flick and Barcelona, there may be some reason to hope moving forward. Gavi, one of the team’s most instrumental players and a key figure for this Barcelona team, is currently training with the group again and is looking closer than ever to returning.
Even for club director Deco, as highlighted by Fabrizio Romano, Gavi’s return will mark a significant boost to the team that the director can only regard as the best possible signing for Hansi Flick: “Mark my words, Gavi will be the signing of the season for us.”
Moreover, Deco even dropped some hints suggesting that Gavi could end up returning for Barcelona quite soon. His faith in the player remains as strong as ever, and his words are there to prove it: “He will do great things again, we’re ready to welcome him back soon.”
While it remains to be seen just how much longer it will take Gavi to make his official return to the team, it is also true that the progress he has made has been significant. For the young Spaniard, the goal is to return fully fit and then help Hansi Flick’s Barcelona as much as possible this season.
Fortunately, he possesses the kind of profile that looks to be a natural fit for Flick’s team. Tenacious, hungry, technically gifted, and always ready to run the extra mile, Gavi’s return would ideally be a great blessing for the new first-team head coach, and Deco certainly seems to think so as well.
