Even right now, FC Barcelona are constantly involved in transfer-oriented conversations. The Catalan club, knowing that planning ahead is important, is trying its best to sort out their issues ahead of time. However, certain concerns at Barcelona are more urgent than others.

It has already been established that the Catalan giants are currently focused on player renewals and have managed to sort out several already. 18-year-old Spanish defender Pau Cubarsi was the most recent player at Barcelona to renew his contract, but the club is not looking to stop there.

While there are certain cases that are not seen as urgent matters, there is still a need to resolve them as soon as possible. However, one particular situation that continues to be a unique kind of hurdle for Barcelona is undoubtedly the contractual situation of Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutch midfielder, who is currently enjoying his football thanks to his great form, seems to still have uncertainties regarding his renewal and nothing seems to be guaranteed for now. However, there has been a positive development when it comes to negotiations between the player’s camp and the club.

As highlighted by SPORT, De Jong’s agent recently met with club Director Deco in an informal meeting in Barcelona. It was a brief meeting between Deco and Ali Dursun, but it serves as the foundation for future negotiations regarding the player’s stay at the club.

While the report suggests that the final resolution of this recent meeting was positive and that both sides shared mutual optimism, they also agreed to be patient. For now, neither party seems to think that accelerating negotiations would be a mature decision and are instead leaning towards waiting and letting some time pass.

As for De Jong himself, the player seems to have won over Hansi Flick as well. Now consistently starting ahead of Marc Casado, with this being the third game in a row in which he did so, he has finally regained his best version again it seems.

Ultimately, if it continues like this, a renewal would hardly be a surprise. The player will end up seeing promise in this sporting project and Barcelona will have a guarantee that this version of the Dutchman is here to stay. However, as for the financial conditions, there will need to be more discussion over the matter before a final solution can be reached with the €45 million-rated midfielder.
