It has only been a few weeks since the 2024-25 season started, but FC Barcelona are already becoming attentive to their squad for the upcoming years. There are several areas of the team that the Blaugranes would want to strengthen in the coming transfer windows.
As the last transfer window closed only around a month ago, there is still some time before Barcelona can make their moves in the market. However, SPORT reports that Deco is already working on several operations to meet the club’s potential objectives regarding the team.
One of the main areas in which Deco has been working is that of player renewals. Some of these renewals, like that of Marc Bernal, are already near to completion and can be announced soon. Other operations like those for the renewal of Fermin Lopez and Gerard Martin are actively being worked on.
Furthermore, there are several players whose contracts end in 2026, and the Catalans would want to renew them before the next transfer window or place them on the market to ensure they do not leave for free.
Similarly, the Barcelona Sporting Director is also working on some incoming transfers, albeit without much noise. In this regard, the report mentions that Deco was recently in Porto to watch the match between Porto and Manchester United, and kept a close eye on two players in particular: Nico Gonzalez and Diogo Costa.
The Catalans have a 50% right on the former and are looking at the latter as a possible replacement of Marc Andre Ter Stegen.
But for now, Barcelona still have to ensure they return to the 1:1 rule after coming to an agreement with Nike. Achieving this is essential for Barcelona as they will have to get Dani Olmo and Pau Victor registered again in January. If the deal with Nike does not take place, Barcelona can also sell some of their current players in January.
