The summer transfer window has entered its last few hours, but FC Barcelona have not yet been able to complete most of their operations. As things stand, Dani Olmo has been the only big arrival at the Catalan club, and a left-winger, which was the top priority of the Blaugranes in this window, has still not been incorporated into the team.
Several players have departed the club, with Ilkay Gundogan returning to Manchester City, Clement Lenglet joining Atletico Madrid on loan, Álex Valle joining Celtic on loan, and Vitor Roque joining Real Betis on loan. However, a big money sale has not materialized for the Catalans up to now.
The last few days of the transfer window are usually very fast-paced, and some moves can still be finalized before the market closes. However, as Diario AS has noted, the prospects of such a thing happening are rather bleak at this point in time. This is particularly clear in Barcelona as Deco went on a holiday to Portugal to celebrate his birthday at such an important time.
One of the players who can still depart the Catalan club is Eric Garcia. He can still return to Girona, but with the dearth of center-back and midfield pivot options at Barcelona, such a move is highly complicated. However, there will be no certainty about Garcia’s future till the very end of the window.
Other main names that Barcelona had on the exit list, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, and Frenkie de Jong, are all currently injured, thus closing the door to a potential transfer.
Thus, unless a big sale takes place, a huge contract is signed with an investor, or a personal guarantee comes from the board, Barcelona will be unable to make any signing in the remaining part of the transfer window. Still, the Catalans are attentive to any opportunities arising in the market.
