FC Barcelona are looking to reinforce their attacking line in this summer transfer window and have two priority targets for this purpose in mind, i.e., Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.
The former of these players is clearly the main preference of the Catalans, but getting him would not be easy in any way, especially considering the economic problems being faced by them.
In such a scenario, it is always prudent to have a Plan B at hand, and according to a report from SPORT, Barcelona are now eyeing 22-year-old Bayern Munich winger, Bryan Zaragoza as a contingency option.
The Spanish winger moved to the Bavarian club in the last winter transfer window but has been unable to establish himself as an important player mainly because of his inability to communicate in German.
The Bayern Sporting Director, Max Eberl, has also clearly stated that he is not going to have a lot of minutes in the next season, and the best way forward for him remains to find a new club.
Meanwhile, Barcelona have also been quite attentive towards him, and Deco especially loves the player and admires him for his ability to take on defenders. The Portuguese official had tried to sign him in the last winter window as well, however, Bayern got the player because of their better financial muscle.
The Catalans understand that Bayern are keen to offload the player and that they can get him on a loan this summer. However, it should be kept in mind that Nico Williams is clearly their priority, and Zaragoza will be considered only if that move falls down.
FC Barcelona can also face competition from other clubs if they eventually have to go for his signing. The report mentions Girona as another club interested in Zaragoza, while Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Valencia have also presented the player with a loan proposal and negotiations are ongoing.
Note: The player’s valuation (€12m), as used in the headline, is based on Transfermarkt’s data as of the publication date of this article.
