The transfer deadline day is here and FC Barcelona do not look particularly interested in it. In recent seasons, it has become a bit of a norm for the Catalan club to continue poking around even in the final hours. However, this time around, Barcelona simply do not look to be bothered given their financial circumstances.

Instead, they may still have the opportunity to offload players if the right offer arrives and can be agreed upon by all parties. One player whose future seemed destined to be away from Barcelona, however, was 23-year-old Spanish defender Eric Garcia as many rumors seemed to suggest so.

The party most interested in taking Garcia away seemed to be Girona, a La Liga side where the €20 million-rated defender thrived on loan last season. However, due to an untimely injury, the Spaniard’s move looked to have been jeopardized. Yet, in a greatly surprising fashion, there is a new update regarding Garcia.

As highlighted by SPORT, the Spanish defender has surprisingly returned to training already. In the latest training session before the game against Real Valladolid tomorrow, the Barcelona defender returned to the grass to train with his teammates ahead of the game.

Only a few days ago the player’s name had to be omitted from the squad list that was released for the Rayo Vallecano game, but it seems that the player has already recovered and is actively training with the rest of his teammates with a few hours left till the end of deadline day.

However, given that not much time remains as it stands and also that Barcelona have an unwanted number of injuries at the club, Garcia’s exit seems improbable as of right now.

Given that he can be deployed both as a defensive midfielder and as a center-back, two positions where Barça continue to struggle with injuries and depth right now, keeping him may be in Hansi Flick’s best interests.
