Following the expected acquisition of Inigo Martinez and Mikayil Faye, it seems that FC Barcelona were being rumored to be looking at a potential new addition to strengthen the defensive line, something that the latest update on the occasion clarifies to a better degree.
According to a recent revelation courtesy of Soc Blaugrana with video footage, it appears that Burkinabé born Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba was recently at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper alongside his previous representative, Deco.
A surprise visit, as considered by most, Tapsoba’s appearance initially managed to ignite rumors regarding his potential transfer to FC Barcelona.
The Leverkusen defender was also offered to Barcelona last year by Deco, who represented him at the time, but the Catalans rejected the proposal and chose to go for Frenchman Jules Kounde from La Liga side Sevilla.
Currently 24 years of age, the Burkinabé defender is a promising talent and has been compared in his style of play to that of Jerome Boateng.
Pacey and physically dominant by appearance and even in ability, the Tapsoba also possesses commendable passing ability, and composure and has also been praised for his goalscoring talents despite being a central defender.
However, a possible transfer of the player does seem to be on the table, and as SPORT reports, the visit is merely on behalf of him being a member of the new Barcelona Sporting Director Deco’s previous agency.
The Brazilian ex-agent and now soon-to-be new Sporting Director is simply understood to be concluding some matters with Tapsoba, as the defender has already made the move to be represented by a new agency given Deco himself having to close down his own due to his new responsibility with FC Barcelona.
