€35 million rated Barcelona player convinced to leave after talks with Xavi

FC Barcelona will have to sell a number of their players in order to gain some much-needed funds and lighten their wage bill, which will allow them to obtain new players for the next season. However, most of the players are unwilling to leave the club, and Barcelona have to convince them to look for other clubs.

Javi Miguel of Diario AS reports that FC Barcelona have made significant advancements in this aspect in regard to Franck Kessie. The report claims that the Ivorian has been convinced by Xavi to leave the club if a suitable offer comes in.

Xavi communicated to the player the current financial position of the club, after which the player reluctantly showed his willingness to help the club by joining another side this summer.

While the club has not received any formal offer for the player up till now, a number of clubs have been reported to be interested in the Ivorian. Inter Milan have been monitoring his situation for a while now, and are attracted to his profile particularly because of his experience in the Serie A. Furthermore, Premier League sides including Liverpool and Tottenham have also been interested in the player.

Currently, Barcelona value Kessie at €35 million at least. If they can get an offer around this figure, the whole proceeds from Kessie’s sale would go to the club’s profit books, as they had signed the player on a free last summer. Thus, the club would be left with a margin of €15-17 million to be spent on other targets.

While the club has successfully convinced Kessie to leave the club this summer according to these reports, the management still has a significant amount of work on their hands in convincing other players to follow in Kessie’s footsteps.

The next objective should be to convince Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres for a departure, which would significantly impact the club’s wage bill, and help the club for the upcoming seasons.
