FC Barcelona and Girona are set to face one another in a mouth-watering clash this weekend at the Montilivi. Both these teams were competing for the La Liga title last season, and thus this clash promises to be a highly entertaining one for the fans.
While the fans will certainly enjoy this game, this game will be particularly special for some of the players in both the squad. In Barcelona, Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre will be looking to return to the stadium that was their home last year, while Oriol Romeu will also face his former side.
But as SPORT has reported, the midfielder Pablo Torre will be going into this game with particular expectations as he can get a significant time on the pitch.
The Barcelona midfielder is returning to the club after playing an important role in the Spanish U-21 team in the last international break, in which he played in both matches and also recorded an assist.
The youngster will be looking to impress Flick, and to increase his importance in the team after gaining some ground in the last two years under Xavi and then on loan at Girona.
Flick has only one position to play the €3m-rated Spanish gem in, the attacking midfield, and here too, he has a lot of options. Pedri, who played in this position previously, is not expected to be an attacking midfielder anymore this season, as he will be playing in a deeper position following Bernal’s injury.
Another option for this position, Fermin Lopez is also currently injured. However, the starting attacking midfielder for Flick is going to be Dani Olmo, but he also suffered a blow in the last international break and it remains unclear whether he would be fully fit for the upcoming game against Girona.
Thus, Torre has a good chance of getting an appearance against his former side this weekend. Flick has also tried playing Raphinha as an attacking midfielder while stationing Ferran Torres on the wing, but the German should give some minutes to the young midfielder to see just what he can offer.
