While the several additions that FC Barcelona made in the last summer transfer window are clearly benefitting the club, not everyone has gained with the incorporation of these new players.
One of the players who has definitely been on the losing side with the arrival of Inigo Martinez and Joao Cancelo in the summer is Andreas Christensen, who has gone from being an undisputed starter last season to becoming more of a substitute this season.
Christensen has not played in some important games this season and has already expressed his displeasure over this state of affairs.
However, despite this demotion, SPORT reports that Christensen is not considering a move away from Barcelona for now. The defender has several offers on the table and is a particularly in-demand asset in the Premier League, but he wants to remain and succeed at Barcelona for now.
Meanwhile, there was a summit between Barcelona officials and the player’s agent, Ilhan Gundogan, in which the Catalan club also communicated to the agent that they have full confidence in the defender, and want to continue having him with them. The two parties also agreed to reassess the situation by the end of the season.
The meeting took place between the agent and Deco, and was a routine activity aimed to enhance the relationship between player agents and Deco, as these agents got into contact with the club primarily through Mateu Alemany.
Barcelona understand that Christensen wants to have more minutes, but the playtime distribution remains exclusively in the hands of Xavi. Still, Barcelona are fully satisfied with the defender’s performances and want him to remain at the club for years to come.
The season is long, and Christensen himself recognizes that he will get several opportunities in the coming weeks and months. He is also highly likely to start the game against Atletico Madrid this weekend.
