For the last three seasons, the young FC Barcelona midfielder Pablo Torre has been trying to gain some continuity and regular playing time in top-flight Spanish football.

After arriving at the Catalan club, his minutes were quite scarce under Xavi Hernandez. He left to play on loan for a year at Girona for the 2023-24 season, but while he got more playing opportunities under Michel, he was still not a starter.

Having returned to Barcelona this summer, he had more prominence under Hansi Flick, as he had three consecutive starts in the games against Villarreal, Getafe, and Osasuna. But in the last two games against Young Boys and Alaves, he again did not get any minutes on the pitch.

However, despite this rather unstable position in club football, Torre still remains a key starter for the Spanish U-21 side, as SPORT has noted. Santi Denia, who knows the young midfielder from his time in the youth categories, is showing a lot of confidence in the youngster.

This is clear from his participation in the qualifying phase of the U-21 European Championship, as he has played in all of these games up to now. If he gets on the pitch for the upcoming inconsequential match against Malta, he would have appeared in all the ten matches in this campaign.

The 21-year-old Barcelona midfield gem has been a part of the squad for all the European Championship qualification matches since 2023, and started the last three games. Furthermore, €5m-rated Spaniard has also played in two friendlies, 45 minutes in each match.

He contributed with two goals and four assists in these qualification matches and helped his side get the required victories to ensure their participation in the U-21 European Championship that is scheduled to take place next year.
