FC Barcelona have already been suffering a lot this season due to various kinds of injuries. Unfortunately, this trend of losing key players at important moments of any given season does not seem to be stopping. Even in the ongoing campaign, Barcelona continue to suffer because of it.

Several important players such as Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Fermin Lopez, Ronald Araujo, and others are still sidelined. While some are much closer to a return than others, the reality is that Barcelona still continues to wait on their return and tries to make do without them.

Now, however, it seems like another player may have been added to that ever-growing list of sidelined players. Following the recent emphatic 4-1 victory over Michel’s Girona, it appears that not everything was all sunshine and rainbows for Hansi Flick’s team.

According to AS, early signs now show that Barcelona star Dani Olmo has suffered from a muscle overload in his hamstring during the game itself and he could end up missing the next match. That would explain his substitution in the second half, one that came despite the fact that the player had been playing quite well up until that moment.

Fortunately, however, early signs look positive and it seems that the player does not have a severe injury. Regardless, it is important that Barcelona waits for the results of a proper and thorough medical examination to find out the exact extent of the player’s injury or discomfort.

Either way, it seems unlikely that Olmo will be able to participate in the upcoming UEFA Champions League opener for Barcelona against Monaco away from home. Given that the player seems to have an overload, it could take a week or longer for him to recover and that could lead to him being a doubt for the game after Monaco as well.

Until the €60 million-rated star finally manages to overcome this discomfort, Hansi Flick will have to find some alternative options in his position. The likes of Raphinha, Ansu Fati, and even Ferran Torres could end up needing to step up in his absence and it remains to be seen who gets the opportunity.
