Despite the physical setbacks to Frenkie de Jong and Eric Garcia, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick was still able to recover four players for the match against Sevilla, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, Wojciech Szczesny, and Dani Olmo.

The former two got some minutes in this game, while the latter two remained as unused substitutes on the bench. It is easy to understand why Szczesny did not get any minutes, but Olmo’s lack of participation in this game was somewhat of a surprise.

However, SPORT assures that despite his lack of minutes against Sevilla, he will be available for the upcoming two crunch ties against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, and his sensations in the upcoming training sessions will determine how many minutes he will get in these two matches.

Zero minutes in the last match make it very unlikely for him to start against Bayern Munich. Muscle injuries, in particular, carry a high risk of relapse, so FC Barcelona will likely aim to reintroduce him gradually.

Thus, he might not start in a game that is expected to be a very intense one against Bayern Munich, but he will be a serious option to start the match against Real Madrid on Saturday.

Meanwhile, for the Bayern game, Flick will have to reassess his options as both Eric Garcia and Frenkie de Jong have suffered some physical setbacks lately. If either of these players is fit, Flick would prefer fielding him in that match, but if both are unavailable, Fermin Lopez would be a good option for the German tactician.

FC Barcelona have been able to keep getting the desired results even in Olmo’s absence. However, the €60m-rated midfielder’s presence in the team takes the Blaugranes’ offensive game a notch higher, and thus the Cules will be looking forward to his return with eagerness.
