The international break can often provide an opportunity to various Barcelona players to show up for their respective countries. Often times, performances shown on the international stage are considered to be quite influential in determining a player’s true calibre outside of a known system. Fortunately for Barcelona, their players tend to not disappoint either for club or for country.

In this ongoing international break, that opportunity came along once more for several Barcelona players. However, as of often the case, most of the players from the Catalan club went to represent the Spanish National team as they take on their two fixtures in the UEFA Nations League.

The first of those two tests came against Denmark just recently, and it was a game where a certain Barcelona star made sure to make an impact after being one of the key performers for his country in their Euro 2024 triumph during the summer.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona attacking midfielder Dani Olmo was one of the standout performers for Luis de la Fuente’s side as they beat Denmark 2-1 at the Parken Stadium over in Copenhagen.

Beyond just being a complete nuisance for the Danish side to deal with throughout his time on the pitch, Olmo also ended up providing a great assist to Ayoze Perez who then converted his attempt to make it 2-0 at that point before Denmark also ended up getting a goal back later on.

That particular assist, which originated from a pass that Martin Zubimendi gave to Olmo, saw the Barcelona player turn under pressure as two Danish players tried to trap him, and managed to get away. Right after that, his pass was just weighted perfectly enough for his Spanish teammate to convert it.

This assist now brings Olmo’s tally to ten when it comes to Spain, and he already has eleven goals to his name for his country. The €60 million-rated midfield star was influential already at the European Championship, and now within a team that does not have the likes of Lamine Yamal, Dani Carvajal, Rodri available due to injury, Olmo is stepping up once again.

Even before the game itself, it seemed clear enough that the Spaniard has a lot of confidence in his own abilities:

“I already knew what kind of player I was. Some are surprised now that I’m playing in Spain, but I knew what I could bring. Regarding Barça, I knew things would go well.”

In the same game, Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado also ended up getting his official debut for the Spanish National team. While he may not have expected it, the 21-year-old player got his opportunity to demonstrate his quality to Luis de la Fuente after a sensational season with FC Barcelona so far under Hansi Flick’s orders.
