Barcelona have been a hub of activity in the summer transfer window so far. With departures considered critical in order to move forward with signings, the Catalans are in dire need of securing exits.
Frenkie de Jong’s rejuvenation this past season has seen him elevate into an indispensable asset for the club. Despite last summer being placed on the transfer market, he is now seen as one of the few untouchables in the squad.
However, owing to his innate importance to the squad, the Dutchman has garnered a lot of interest in the market. In such a context, SPORT has come out to claim that the footballer is clear that he will not move no matter what happens.
In light of recent rumors that Barcelona may consider selling the Dutchman for a sizeable amount if necessary due to financial difficulties, the midfielder is adamant that he would not leave the team, as was exactly the case last year.
The report argues that De Jong is crucial to Xavi, therefore the club is reluctant to sell him even though there are interested parties actively pursuing his signature. Having played an important role in the La Liga title, he is set to remain firm at the Catalan club.
While there is no denying Frenkie de Jong is the player for whom the Catalans would fetch the most money if they decided to sell, the Blaugranes do not appear willing to list important assets on the market.
The Club will attempt to force the departures in the coming weeks so that the transferable players agree to leave once and for all. These saleable players include the likes of Frank Kessie, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres.
Barcelona must break through this impasse in the negotiations in order to have a salary margin, but it won’t be simple. Taking the easy route through the sale of De Jong as well as other important assets is not considered a primary motive at the moment.
