It remains the dream of FC Barcelona to find a pivot that can replace Sergio Busquets. The task is a mammoth in itself, but it has proven to become increasingly more difficult. Barcelona had hoped that the incorporation of Oriol Romeu could help fill that void, but thus far it seems to have hardly helped at all.

However, one player that remains a great target for Barcelona is Joshua Kimmich. The German midfielder is renowned for possessing great technical qualities and a winning mentality. Yet, as things often are when Bayern Munich is involved, negotiations and advances have been made tricky.

Kimmich himself has reportedly been open to the move as well. Currently, workings within Bayern Munich have not exactly appealed to him, and a change of scenery is on his mind. However, a massive step has recently been taken by the player that could alter quite a lot of things in the future.

As per SPORT, Kimmich has just recently cut professional ties with Ulrich Ferber. As such, the Bayern Munich star is now on the lookout for a new representative as well. By doing this, the German star could open up a market of possibilities with which he could depart from Munich.

The 28-year-old considers now to be the perfect chance to take a new step in his career. Having achieved quite a lot with Bayern Munich, and also having spent quite a lot of time there, the player sees this as an opportunity to return the favor with a sizeable transfer fee should a team acquire him.

Currently, he has an active contract until 2025 with Bayern. For Barcelona to acquire him, Bayern will undoubtedly demand a sizeable transfer fee for him. However, there are reportedly many figures within the Bavarian club that are open to letting go of the 28-year-old.

Barcelona remain keen on the German midfielder, and his arrival could fill an important void in the team. Add to that his hunt for a new agent, and it seems that a possibility of joining forces could be on the horizon in the summer of 2024.
