Having achieved quite a lot with Bayern Munich, and also having spent quite a lot of time there, the player sees this as an opportunity to return the favor with a sizeable transfer fee should a team acquire him.
Currently, he has an active contract until 2025 with Bayern. For Barcelona to acquire him, Bayern will undoubtedly demand a sizeable transfer fee for him. However, there are reportedly many figures within the Bavarian club that are open to letting go of the 28-year-old.
Barcelona remain keen on the German midfielder, and his arrival could fill an important void in the team. Add to that his hunt for a new agent, and it seems that a possibility of joining forces could be on the horizon in the summer of 2024.
