There is a lot of focus on physical fitness and recovery these days at FC Barcelona. Yet, it is hardly a surprise given that Hansi Flick is the man in charge at the club now. With the German coach at the helm, it was only a matter of time before FC Barcelona turned into a physical powerhouse.
However, just because the coach likes to put an emphasis on intensity and physicality, it does not mean that the team is safe from physical injuries or ailments. As it stands, many of the key first-team players for FC Barcelona are either in recovery or just not yet ready to return.
One of the players whose absence is felt a lot these days is Pedri. The 21-year-old Barcelona Golden Boy suffered an unfortunate injury at the hands of Toni Kroos during the European Championship. As a result of that unfortunate tackle, one that the German midfielder later apologized for as well, Pedri is still in recovery.
Fortunately for Barcelona, however, it seems that the player will not remain in recovery for much longer. According to SPORT, Pedri is now looking to be almost in the final stretch of his recovery as he has returned to the grass pitches of Tenerife to continue his recovery.
With instructions and equipment provided by FC Barcelona, Pedri continues to train and recover as per the club’s commands. Moreover, it seems that he remains on track to meet all the deadlines that have been set for him in terms of when exactly he will make his return.
At the moment, the projection is that the player will likely return near the end of August to join Barcelona in their official matches. However, given how accelerated his recovery has been and how much development is there to be seen, it is not fully ruled out that the player may end up being in the squad for the opening La Liga encounter against Valencia.
It must be remembered, however, that the club will not look to take any risks with the player. His injuries have been bothersome enough for the last few seasons but the club knows that he was back to his best for Spain during the European Championship. While the timing of the injury is unfortunate, Barça has full faith in the player’s drive and mentality to recover.
