Barcelona has already suffered many casualties and sidelined players this season. Even before the halfway mark of the campaign, La Blaugrana had started to lose their stars to various injuries. With 2024 now having taken over, Barcelona were hoping for less of the same.
However, that has not exactly been the case for Barcelona. In both the games of 2024 thus far, Barcelona have endured a different casualty. First, against Las Palmas, Joao Cancelo had to be taken off with what was later confirmed to have been an MCL injury.
Now, in the latest game against Barbastro in the Copa Del Ray, Inigo Martinez was injured yet again. Yet, despite these losses, Barcelona are gradually working to recover some of their fallen stars. For this reason, the latest Barça training session was rather significant.
According to SPORT, there was a massively positive update for Barcelona in the latest training session. Pedri, one of the club’s most prominent stars, participated in part of the team’s group training. While he did not finish the entire session with the team, this comes as a great update.
The youngster, formerly from the Canary Islands, is recognized by many as the soul of Xavi’s team. In terms of the way he understands the game and what Xavi demands of him, he is the perfect midfielder for the Barcelona head coach.
Unfortunately, however, he continues to be unavailable due to untimely muscular injuries. In fact, these injuries have become problematic enough for Barcelona to prepare special recovery and health plans for Pedri specifically. Whether or not their implementation actually works will only be tested by time.
However, with Pedri now seemingly close to returning, Barça’s Spanish Super Cup could receive a surprise boost. With the return of their Golden Boy, Barcelona can once again dream of achieving great things with this team. Now, Joao Cancelo is the only other potential inclusion whose progression will have to be monitored.
