FC Barcelona are set to return to La Liga action tonight with a match against Sevilla. The former Barcelona Atletic coach, Garcia Pimienta, will be looking to put up a significant challenge for Hansi Flick’s team as he returns to his former club.

But this match against Sevilla will be important for some other reasons too. For instance, the Catalans have two crunch games awaiting them after this match, and they will be looking to win this game to go into the matches against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the best of spirits.

Furthermore, as Mundo Deportivo notes, this game will be particularly special for one Barcelona player in particular, the midfielder Gavi, who can step back on the pitch after spending the last 335 days on the sidelines with an injury.

Hansi Flick had already confirmed in his press conference ahead of this match that Gavi will be on the bench against Sevilla, and he can participate in this match.

The forecasts made after the detailed tests at the time of his injury claimed that the €90 million-rated midfielder would be unable to get back on the pitch for at least 12 months.

The La Masia graduate was injured while playing for Spain on 20th November 2023, as he tore his ACL of the right knee and also had an associated injury to the lateral meniscus. However, he has recovered in a better way than expected, and he can make his return to the pitch ahead of schedule.

Gavi’s unbridled energy has been one of the factors that have led him to get back to fitness ahead of schedule, and his return to the team is expected to provide the rest of the team with an adrenaline rush as well, especially ahead of the blockbuster matches against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
