For now, many of them continue to fight for a place within the first team one day. However, their current ongoing challenge is the Under-17 FIFA World Cup.
It is a tournament that has the world’s eyes set on it to discover a new wave of incoming prodigies. Unfortunately, that road to the final comes to an end for many of Barça’s youngsters.
In the latest fixture of the knockout stages, Germany took on Spain in the quarterfinals. The final result saw the Germans win the encounter by a single goal in their 1-0 victory. In terms of representatives from Barcelona, Spain had the most players.
With eight players in the Spanish team hailing from Barcelona, the defeat comes as a massive blow. Despite their impressive form thus far, the Spaniards will be disappointed with the way their promising journey comes to an end.
On the bright side, a very prodigious member of the Barcelona subsidiary still remains in the competition. In fact, he was a key contributor in the defeat that Spain has had to endure. Noah Darvich, captain of the Under-17 German team, moves on with his side to the semi-finals.
In what has been an impressive tournament for him thus far, Darvich is emerging as one of the best players at the World stage. His hopes of now reaching the final will have undoubtedly increased with this recent victory, and Barcelona will be quite invested in seeing how it develops.
The rest of the Barcelona subsidiary players will likely now return to the Catalan club. They can then be used by Xavi Hernandez both in training sessions and potentially receive call-ups as well to first-team games if the Spanish manager considers it worthwhile.
