FC Barcelona have a crucial match coming up as they face Bayern Munich in the League Phase of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League.

Fortunately, Hansi Flick was able to recover several midfielders ahead of this game, as Fermin Lopez and Gavi made their returns to the pitch, while Dani Olmo was also named in the squad for this game. However, the German coach also lost one of his midfield options as Eric Garcia suffered a discomfort while warming up for the game against Sevilla.

The former Manchester City defender was expected to start the game against the Andalusians as one of the midfield pivots but was unable to do so because of this physical issue. But, as SPORT has reported, this issue is going to have implications for the Spaniard beyond just that game against Sevilla.

The report mentions that Eric Garcia was unable to train with the rest of his teammates as Hansi Flick led his team in the latest training session to prepare for the upcoming game against Bayern Munich.

Barcelona later confirmed that the defender was suffering from an adductor discomfort in the right leg. Thus, he trained away from the group on Tuesday, and will not be available for the game against the Bavarians.

For the match against Sevilla, Flick adapted to this loss by starting Ansu Fati on the left wing, and bringing Raphinha more to the centre of the pitch. Pedri and Marc Casado formed the double pivot in the middle of the pitch.

Against Bayern, Flick will once again be forced to settle on the double midfield pivot formed by Marc Casado and Pedri. But the more anticipated choices from the Barcelona manager will be about the attacking midfielder, as there are several options for this position in the squad, including Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Pablo Torre, and even Raphinha.
