While sporting aspirations for FC Barcelona remain significant, financial expectations must also be managed. The Catalan club continues to be a European powerhouse without the financial freedom of most of its adversaries. As a result, the Blaugranes have had to tread carefully in whichever direction they have walked.

Hence, the management of Barcelona has been quite particular over certain matters both on and off the field. Any transfer targets that the club has pursued in recent times have had to be financially viable in the first place. Given their desperation, Barcelona have even had to sell off percentages of their assets.

However, luckily for Barcelona, they continue to compete in some of the most lucrative competitions in world football. La Liga remains there as a great source of income, but Barça’s recent victory over Porto grants them access to a great new influx of funds.

According to SPORT, Barcelona have managed to accumulate close to €40 million in earnings from the Champions League. To be precise, the exact number being reported is €36.2 million. However, the division of these earnings is quite interesting.

First and foremost, participation in the Champions League group stage alone rewards teams with €15.64 million. On top of that, every single victory in the group stage allows teams to win up to €2.8 million. Draws also reward funds, but the €930,000 winnings are significantly lesser than those won by winning.

Through their four victories, Barcelona managed to earn €11.2 million in winnings. Adding to this the €15.4 million from simply participation, Barcelona have earned €26.6 million. However, there is an additional influx of funds that comes into play for teams that qualify for the knockout stages.

By confirming their place in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, Barcelona have secured an additional €9.6 million. Thus, in total, the overall winnings reach €36.2 million. With a game still left to play, an additional €2.8 million could also be added if Barcelona manage to overcome Royal Antwerp.

However, it’s important to note that €34.11 million, attributed to the club’s historical ranking, remains separate from these recent earnings as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo.

This historical ranking-based revenue further bolsters FC Barcelona’s financial standing, highlighting the club’s enduring prominence in European football. When combined with the recent earnings, the total revenue reaches the substantial sum of €70.55 million.
