With the conclusion of the UEFA EURO 2024 and the 2024 Copa America, FC Barcelona are now fully focused on the market, and several movements can take place in their squad this summer.
Fans will definitely be looking forward to seeing some quality additions to the team, but another aspect that would excite the Blaugrana fans would be the kits for the 2024-25 season, which have been presented by Barcelona today.
The Catalan club launched a promotional video for this event, which was filled with symbolism of the club’s Catalan identity and history, and featured some of the biggest names that have played for Barcelona, including Ronaldinho, Puyol, Iniesta, Stoichkov, and Pau Gasol.
Furthermore, several players from the men’s and women’s Barcelona teams also featured in the video, with Balde, Lewandowski, Gavi, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, Raphinha and Fermin Lopez all making an appearance.
However, as SPORT has noted, one of the most notable absences from this video was that of Frenkie de Jong, who is one of the key players for the Catalan team, and has been playing at the club for several years now.
Four of the players appearing in the video, Balde, Araujo, Gavi, and Lewandowski are sponsored by Nike, the brand which is manufacturing the new kits for Barcelona. De Jong, described as ‘extraordinary’ by Xavi Hernández, is also sponsored by the sports clothing and footwear giant, which makes his absence even more difficult to understand.
Other important players like Ilkay Gundogan and Marc Andre Ter Stegen are also not a part of this video, but their absence is understandable by the fact that they are sponsored by Nike’s competitor, Adidas.
Vitor Roque is also absent, but he has barely been at the club and has not made a lot of appearances in the blue and garnet shirt.
This state of affairs further fuels the possibility of a potential exit of the Dutchman from the club, especially as Barcelona need to make a sale to undertake most of their operations in the market.
