After a rather long wait, it seems that FC Barcelona are edging closer to their ultimate goal. Following the conclusion of the European Championship this summer, only one player has been on Barça’s mind. For those that are still not aware, that target for Barcelona is none other than Nico Williams.

The electric and dynamic 22-year-old winger for Athletic Club and the Spanish National team proved his worth last season at club level and during the summer with Spain as the nation triumphed in the Euros by overcoming England in the final, with one of the two Spanish goals coming from the Barcelona target.

Over the last few weeks, major developments have taken place in terms of Nico’s overall operation. Barcelona have even gone to the lengths of giving his entourage personal guarantees to ease their mind. Now, with the transfer window in full flow, there must come a decision soon.

Fortunately enough, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Reshad Rahman) has now made a statement that fans of Barcelona will be quite excited to hear: “Nico Williams’ decision can come in at any moment now.”

Moreover, the journalist has also confirmed that Barcelona remain firmly in the position that they were previously at as well. The Catalan giants remain confident about signing Nico Williams, despite a grand variety of European clubs being interested in the player as well.

Romano continues to emphasize that despite this interest from elsewhere, Barça are eager to follow up with the player’s ongoing operation. Furthermore, the Catalan club will not make any other moves before the case of the Athletic Club winger is fully resolved this summer.

At the moment, patience is what each and every associated party is currently having to deal with. The player’s future may not be resolved today or even tomorrow, but there is a general feeling that the conclusion of this saga will arrive sooner rather than later.
