FC Barcelona will be making a huge gamble this summer at some point it would seem. The only issue is that no direction looks to be making sense for them half the time. Even with Barcelona having some specific targets to follow, new twists and surprises continue to pop up without any stoppages.
Not too long ago, it was being reported by journalists that Nico Williams had agreed to join Barcelona and the finances were the only thing holding the deal back. Now, the narrative seems to have completely changed following Athletic Club’s announcement that the player will be wearing the ‘10’ for them next season.
With Barcelona getting nowhere with this transfer saga by now, it seems that the future winger may have to come from somewhere else. According to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barça have now turned their attention towards finding some good alternatives to the Spanish winger and have at least a few names on the table.
The first one, as confirmed by Romano himself, is Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Conan. However, his high salary is reportedly proving to be an issue but Barça do have him on their radar as a potential loan arrival, and coupled with the fact that Hansi Flick seems to like him, certain factors do work in his favor.
The other options, according to Mundo Deportivo, seem to be Rafael Leao and Luis Diaz. Leao currently belongs to AC Milan whereas Diaz is currently contracted to Liverpool. Both of the two players would be costly acquisitions, particularly Leao, but their quality is a guarantee.
While Nico Williams may have been the number-one choice for Barcelona to sign this summer, the club has decided not to continue waiting on him. Dani Olmo has already been signed and could feature against AS Monaco, but the arrival of a new winger still seems to be on the cards.
