FC Barcelona emerged 3-0 winners over Deportivo Alaves thanks to a hattrick from Robert Lewandowski. The Polish veteran was at the top of his game and showed clinical, sharp poacher instincts to bag his three goals on the night.

Raphinha, Lewandowski’s attacking partner-in-crime had an incredible game too, providing two assists and looking at his very best. The same cannot be said about the other name of the attacking trident – Lamine Yamal.

The 17-year-old, despite flashes of brilliance, did not have the same kind of impact one has grown to become accustomed to and had arguably his quietest night of the season. Understandably, Hansi Flick chose to take him off in the 67th minute to bring on Ansu Fati in the second half.

However, as per SPORT, Lamine Yamal looked frustrated and unhappy at being hooked off for the second game in the running. He was seen being consoled by Hector Fort on the bench. Clearly, the 17-year-old wanted to stay on.

The report explains that Hansi Flick chose to take him off in the game against Alaves because he was aware of the fact that the teenager was set to be involved for Spain in both their Nation League games against Serbia and Denmark.

The German coach is very careful about the physical condition of his star attacker and is aware that he is just 17. Lamine has taken a step forward this season in terms of physicality and understandably wants to play every minute.

It is not a case of the young attacker showing attitude. The teenager, labeled a ‘fantastic’ player by Hansi Flick, is extremely ambitious and wants to keep playing for as long as possible. However, it is important for him to learn to respect the coach’s decisions, regardless of his displeasure.

Lamine is a huge talent and Barcelona will want to preserve him. He is fundamental to the way the club plays and in his absence, the team looks far less threatening on the right wing. Let’s wait and see if he understands the situation and reacts differently to a substitution in the future.
