For FC Barcelona to ensure that they are able to make adequate signings to compete in Europe next season, they must first generate adequate funds. Their “Feasibility Plan” and its subsequent approval will primarily act as the catalyst for any and all advancements they begin to make during the summer.
One key component for this Feasibility Plan to work is the generating of adequately substantial revenue, and it appears that FC Barcelona may have taken a huge step in that particular direction with the latest development.
According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona have agreed to a deal with Dutch technology company Philips as the primary sleeve sponsor of the FC Barcelona kits for the upcoming season and the deal will continue until the year 2026 with the option to extend the deal till 2028 with the funding of an additional €26 million.
Developed on by Diario AS, a detailed analysis of the deal shows that the current agreement until 2026 will allow FC Barcelona to be given €30 million by Philips as part of the cost of becoming the sleeve sponsor, the settlement dictates that the allocation of the €30 million injection will be progressive and its installments will increase as the seasons pass by.
For now, the understanding is that FC Barcelona will receive €8 million for the 2023/2024 season, then €10 million for the 2024/2025 season, and then €12 million for the 2025/2026 season, thus completing the €30 million in its entirety.
The option to extend until 2028 exists but it has not already been activated due to the elections set to happen in 2026 for the club presidency and thus Joan Laporta’s board will be leaving the incoming board with their own option of activating that extension or not depending on their own understanding.
The report also suggests that there are bonuses included in the deal with Philips, that could reach from half a million all the way to a million euros depending on the success of the club during that period and the titles they are able to win.
This injection of cash could prove to be vital for an FC Barcelona side that can make use of any and all additional revenue at their disposal.
