FC Barcelona on a hunt for defensive recruitments

Latest reports from Mundo Deportivo highlight the proactive approach of the Barca board in finding the defensive recruitment for the right back position, which says that a member of Barcelona’s sports management team was a part of the audience at RCDE stadium last night where Barcelona’s derby rivals Espanyol hosted Villareal.

The report further explains that the main reason for attending the match was to watch over Jorge Cuenca and Juan Foyth as Barcelona look to identify the next signings for the required position.

As for the Argentine Foyth, Barcelona were heavily linked with making a move for him last summer transfer window but his injury and financial limitations removed any chance of the deal materializing.

Barcelona also reportedly scouting the former Barca Atletic defender Jorge Cuenca, who played for the B team of La Blaugrana for 3 years, 2017-2020.

After joining Villareal he was loaned out for 2 years at Almeria and Getafe and now has finally found his position in the yellow submarine’s squad. He played the entire game against the Catalan club RCD Espanyol as his team edged a narrow 1-0 win over them.

With Gerard pique bidding farewell to the club, Barcelona need a replacement, and the club has identified Aymeric Laporte, Iñigo Martínez, and now, Jorge Cuenca as possible targets.
