Fc Barcelona set to offload the defensive trio

Fc Barcelona have set their sights on revamping the squad and three exits are on the table.

After the long speculation of possible departures and arrivals, now we have entered the definitive phase of the summer transfer window as overhauling of the squad has started.

The club is working on strengthening almost every position but the most concerning area is the Back-line. The club has already signed Andreas Christensen from Chelsea and is now being linked with Sevilla’s Jules Koundé. Exits are needed to make room for new signings.

Fc Barcelona have been reportedly working on the possible exits of three defenders since the end of the last season. Clement Lenglet was one of them and he has already been loaned out to Tottenham Hotspur. The other two names are Samuel Umtiti and Oscar Mingueza.

Fc Barcelona and Tottenham have reached an agreement for Clément Lenglet’s loan deal. There is no option to buy and the player will return to Barca after spending the entire season on 30th June 2023. Lenglet has already completed his medicals and his signing on loan has officially been announced by the Spurs. Clément Lenglet has a contract with Barca until 2026.

Óscar Mingueza who came through the ranks of La Masia and made his Barca debut in 2020 has agreed to leave the club, after being told by the coaching staff that he is not in the coach’s plan for the next season. Girona, Monza, Valencia, Celta, Getafe, and Elche were among the clubs that showed interest in the Spanish Centre/Left-back and contacted the player’s entourage. However, the player seems interested in recently promoted Serie A side Monza. Initial contacts have been made by A.C. Monza regarding Mingueza’s signing.

The deal seems difficult at the moment as Barca’s asking price is €5M and the Italian club is hesitant to pay this price and looking for alternative solutions to sign the player.

Rennes showed interest in signing Samuel Umtiti and his departure seemed most likely to happen after Rennes coach Bruno Genesio expressed his desire to sign the player but the deal collapsed as the sporting department of Rennes raised doubts about the physical condition of the player as he has been on the sidelines since past three seasons.

Rennes are now pushing for Brazilian center-back Morato and submitted an official bid but the deal looks complicated due to Benfica’s high asking price. Umtiti is still the backup option for Rennes if they fail to reach an agreement with Benfica for Morato.

Fc Barcelona have made it clear to certain players that they are no longer needed at the club and it isn’t necessary for them to attend pre-season.
