Tomorrow’s superstars are today’s mere talents, and Barcelona is fully aware of this. Many of the upcoming stars in Europe are currently on the radar of Barcelona and for good reason. While they are undoubtedly brave sporting investments, they also fit within the budget allocated to Barça.
Names like Gabriel Moscardo, Arthur Vermeeren, Messinho, and others have recently been linked to Barcelona. Almost all of these names are such that Barça does not exactly come face-to-face with often. Hence, much of the information on them is based on extensive scouting reports.
However, one Barcelona target that plays quite close to home is Savio of Girona. As highlighted by SPORT, he remains a great target for FC Barcelona and Deco. In a recent public statement, Girona’s Sporting Director, Quique Carcel, even acknowledged Barça’s interest in his player.
“Being told that Deco likes one of your players fills you with pride. It already happened last season as well with Oriol Romeu.”
Savio, or Savinho as he is called, is a true jewel of La Liga. The Brazilian winger has exploded in the Spanish first division and has been on Deco’s radar from even before that. In 13 appearances in La Liga, he has already scored 4 goals and provided 4 assists despite only being 19 years of age.
Moreover, by being capable of playing as a lethal winger both on the left and right flanks, he is a great option for Xavi’s Barcelona. For now, while the right-wingers at Barça are abundant in numbers and quality, the left-wing spot is really only up for grabs for Joao Felix.
Savio’s ability to dismantle and unbalance opponent structures is a great trait of his. His acceleration, dribbling, flair, and agility are some of his most recognizable and honed abilities. Players like him are not quite common to find, and Barcelona remains persistent as a result.
Valued at €20 million at the moment, this valuation is likely to continue increasing. With Girona already leading La Liga with their miracle charge for the league title, Savio’s undeniably crucial influence on Michel’s team will potentially attract much more than just Barcelona as a suitor.
