There seems to be just no end to the increasing injury problems at FC Barcelona. The Catalans were already missing players like Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Marc Bernal, and Ansu Fati at this early phase of the season when Fermin Lopez also suffered a muscle injury while training with the Spain U-21 team.

After having a memorable summer in which he first won the UEFA EURO 2024 and then the gold medal in the Paris Olympic Games, this was a significant setback for the midfielder as he had to leave the U-21 camp. Another Barcelona midfielder, Pablo Torre, has now replaced Fermin Lopez in Santi Denia’s squad.

With this injury, Fermin Lopez can remain on the sidelines for the upcoming three to four weeks as he has a Fibre rupture. The RFEF published a report on his injury, which was also confirmed by Barcelona. The President of the Blaugrana club, Joan Laporta, himself talked about Fermin’s injury in his latest media appearance.

Meanwhile, Fermin seems to have not lost too much motivation with this latest setback. As SPORT has reported, the Spaniard took to social media to leave a brief message after the extent of his injury was known. He published a picture of himself in black-and-white, which was accompanied with the message: “There are falls that will make you fly.”

Hopefully, this will be the case for Fermin, and he will come back stronger from this injury to continue on the same path that he has been treading for the last year.

He became a part of Xavi’s squad for the last season after impressing with his performances in the 2023-24 pre-season. He then played an important role with the first team during the actual season, and will once again be a valuable tool for Hansi Flick, especially with his energy, grit, and commitment to the Blaugrana team.
