While there are still some months left till the end of the season and FC Barcelona are still in contention for La Liga and Champions League, planning for the future is underway with full throttle at the club.

In this regard, one of the foremost objectives in the minds of Barcelona officials is to renew the contracts of some of their players who are integral parts of their sporting project going forward. Ronald Araujo is definitely one of these players, and the club is already working on his renewal, even though his current contract runs till 2026.

This is clear from a report from Mundo Deportivo, which reports that Araujo’s agents, Edmundo Kabchi and Edoardo Crnjar, were in the city of Barcelona yesterday, where they met with the club’s Sporting Director Deco. The meeting took place in a cordial mood, as the two parties fully understood one another.

The meeting took place in one of the most famous restaurants in Barcelona, and the visit was already planned because the club has been making his renewal a priority, particularly because of the interest the player is receiving from Bayern Munich.

The two parties agreed on meeting again in the coming weeks and months, and the matter is going to advance as they both now know one another’s requirements and demands. Araujo’s contract till 2026 means both sides have ample time to reach an agreement.

Barcelona want to come to an agreement with the defender in time as they do not want the matter to linger on till 2025, when Araujo will have only one year left on his contract.

The club is looking to sell one of their defenders this summer, but have Araujo in their long-term plans, and want Jules Kounde to be the one to be sold on priority.

The Uruguayan himself does not want to bid farewell to Barcelona, as he is very comfortable in the club and the city. For now, he is concentrating all his attention on the upcoming Champions League tie against Napoli, and wants to help his team prove themselves in the premier European competition.
