FC Barcelona will undertake a training session in the afternoon today but will be without the players who are still with their national teams.
Of the players who represented their countries in the current break, seven still have to play, and Xavi and Barcelona will be hoping none of them suffers any physical setback in the remaining international matches.
Seven players still to play with their National teams
Ferran Torres and Gavi were able to complete their last match against Norway without any physical problems, and as they are not scheduled to play another match with Spain in this break, they are out of any danger of being injured with their national sides.
However, as SPORT has noted, Ter Stegen, Gundogan, Cancelo, Felix, Christensen, Araujo, and Fermin Lopez are all important players for their respective sides. Thus, they are likely to feature in the remaining international matches of their respective teams in this break, and the Catalans fear they can get injured in these ties.
Matches ahead for Barcelona players
Xavi will be particularly worried about Joao cancel and Joao Felix, who will be a part of Portugal’s squad against Bosnia. However, Portugal has already qualified for UEFA EURO 2024 and is at the top of its qualifying group, and thus Roberto Martinez can make some rotations for the upcoming match.
Andreas Christensen and his Denmark side are still contending for a place in the European Championship, and will be looking to ensure their presence with a victory against San Marino in their upcoming match. Fermin Lopez is likely to feature in Spain U-21’s match against Kazakhstan as he looks to qualify for the 2025 U-21 Euro Cup.
Ronald Araujo will be playing on Wednesday in the colossal match against Brazil, while Ter Stegen and Ilkay Gundogan have an upcoming friendly scheduled against Mexico with their German international team. Xavi is hoping that at least Gundogan does not have to play the full match against the North Americans.
Already having a pile of injuries, Barcelona and Xavi will have their fingers crossed in hopes of other Barcelona players not suffering from more injuries. The Catalans have a difficult stretch of matches ahead of them after the international break, and injuries at this time can be highly costly for the club.
