Barcelona players with La Liga trophy

Five main objectives of FC Barcelona in the last four games of the 2022-2023 La Liga season

With the La Liga title wrapped up and celebrated, FC Barcelona are now looking for some other opportunities at glory before the season ends. Thus, the club is targeting a number of individual and team records that are within their reach.

01: Zamora trophy

Firstly, there is the Zamora trophy, for which Ter Stegen is the leading candidate this season. He can also make some records by the end of the season, as he has only conceded 13 goals, which are lesser than the record of 18 goals conceded by Atletico’s Jan Oblak and Deportivo’s Paco Liano in 2015-16 and 1993-94 respectively.

02: Most Clean Sheets:

Ter Stegen has also kept 25 clean sheets this season and has thus surpassed the record held by Chelsea’s Peter Cech in 2004-05 and by Oblak in 2015-16 of 24 clean sheets. However, Ter Stegen has to keep two more clean sheets in the next four games to break the record of Deportivo’s Paco Liano who kept 26 clean sheets in 1993-94.

03: Pichichi Trophy

At the attacking front, Lewandowski is also the favorite to win the Pichichi this season, as his 21 goals are 4 clear of Karim Benzema’s 17 goals. The Polish striker can also go on to break Ronaldo’s record of scoring the most goals in his first season with Barcelona. Ronaldo scored 34 goals in his first season, while Lewandowski has 31 up to now.

04: Winning La Liga with the highest margin

As a team, Barcelona are on course to win La Liga with a record points difference with the second-placed team. The Catalans currently are 14 points clear of Real Madrid, while the record is held by Tito Vilanova’s Barcelona, who had a 15-point advantage over Real Madrid in the 2012-13 league campaign.

05: Most away wins:

The Blaugranes can also get the record of having the greatest number of victories away from home this season. In the 2010-2011, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014 campaigns, the club had 14 victories in away games. Xavi’s team currently have won 13 on the road and still has two remaining against Valladolid and Celta Vigo.

Lastly, the current team can also match the record held by Pep Guardiola’s 2009-10 and Tito Vilanova’s 2012-13 teams of going the entire season undefeated at home. Thus, the end of the season could match the team’s achievements with some of the best teams assembled by the club in its history.
