The former captain, Sergi Roberto, stopped being a Barcelona player on 30th June as his contract with the Catalan club ended on that date. However, reports suggested that he was still hoping to get an offer from the Blaugranes which will keep him at the club for one more year.
Barcelona wanted him to continue playing with them for another year, but they asked him to wait for his registration with La Liga. The Catalans are prioritising some other players ahead of him and they have only a very limited salary margin.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the midfielder is not willing to wait and has already said his goodbye to Barcelona. Furthermore, he is also listening to offers from other clubs.
The Blaugrana Sporting Director, Deco, had communicated to Roberto that he was counting on him for the next season. The club had also sent him a written draft of the economic conditions he would have to accept to stay at his lifelong club.
Furthermore, as already mentioned, Barcelona had made it clear that he could not be registered for now, and he would have to wait his turn. The Catalans had given him a deadline of 10th August, but the midfielder never signed this draft.
Meanwhile, the La Masia graduate has already received interest from some La Liga teams, like Valencia and Sevilla. He has also received interest from Girona to some extent. However, the player himself is now looking for a change of scenery and wants to play outside of his native country Spain.
For this purpose, he has a clear destination in mind, i.e., England. He is looking to play in the English Premier League for the next season, and his entourage is already working on a proposal.
